How to Paste Text on a Samsung Galaxy S3

In a recent guide I showed you how to "copy on a Samsung Galaxy S3" it now makes sense to show you how to use the copied text to paste it in an e-mail, a text or even a forum post.

The first part is to go to the place where you want to past it. For this example I've decided to use an E-mail though you can genuinely use it pretty much that everywhere where you can find an input screen (the white screen you type into).

After finding where you want to post it you hold your finger in to the input
area (as you can see in the screenshot on the right). After holding your finger there for a second or two you will be given two options you can either "Paste" or "Clipboard". If you click "Paste" it will paste the last thing you selected to copy, if however you selected Clipboard you will be shown number of options from which to select.

As you can see in the image to the left you can select any of the items from the clipboard, this allows you, for example, to copy and paste several different things easily and when you want.

How to copy text from the web on a Samsung Galaxy S3

With mobile phones now becoming full blown mini computers we've found new uses for our portable gadgets include surfing the whole internet. Whilst on the internet however we are almost always bound to find something that we want to to quote, send to someone one or share in someway (i.e. E-mail) as a result we want to copy and paste things. This guide shows you how to do the copying part of that on a Samsung Galaxy S3 whilst using Opera Mini (though other browsers work in a similar method).

The first thing you need to do is find what you want to copy, in this case I'm wanting to copy part of a guide on this site. To do this I go on to the page I want to copy from (see top left) and find the specific text that I want. At the edge of that text I hold my finger on the phone and get 2 little blue markers which I can move to where I want by dragging them.

When I have all the text I want inside the blue markers I left my finger off the screen and get a new on the screen allowing me to "Copy", "Search" or "Search With..." from these options I obviously want to "Copy" the text. After clicking on "Copy" this text will be moved on to your clipboard allowing you to paste it elsewhere.

Copying texts on a Samsung Galaxy S2

Recently we looked at copying text from a website, though lets be honest you may want to actually just copy a text message you've been sent by a friend. Whether you just want a to store it in the phone or use it in an e-mail or a forum post it's something that is surprisingly simple.

To start this guide we begin at a text conversation such as the one on the right hand side here.and fine a text we wish to copy. In this case we will be using the rather mundane "What's a boxing bag? hah xxx" text as our text. You need to hold on the
selected text for a second or two and a contextual menu will appear entitled "Message options" (see screen shot on the left). The second option down is the one we want to use, so select "Copy message text". This will automatically put it on the phones clipboard allowing you to put it wherever you want.

For the rest of this we are going to pretend we want to e-mail it to someone so we've opened up a blank e-mail using the Gmail app. and have helped down on the text input
screen to open up the menu on the screen to allow us to "Paste" the selected text from the message. and as you can see in the image below, the message has been compied from the text from "Bee" into an E-mail! Viola!

Of course you can copy things such a cheat for a game, or something poetic someone has said (and something a little bit more spectacular than we've used in this example.

How do I copy and paste text from the web with a Samsung Galaxy S2?

A lot of people on the internet have been asking how to copy bits of text from websites on to their Samsung Galaxy S2 cell phone. The funny thing is that the in-built browsers makes copying much more difficult than using the (much better) alternative Opera Mini browser.

If you wish to use the default browser you need to hold the screen where a word is. You will notice that you get a magnifying glass type of thing over the screen, if you release whilst on the word you'll get an option like there is shown on the screen shot to the right. If you stretch the marks apart you can copy more text though this method is somewhat slow as it seems to take longer than it should to drag for multiple words.
Using opera mini you start with the same concept, press and hold on the screen and when you get a menu screen like the one shown on the image to the left you need to choose the "Select Text" option. From here you can select whole pages by dragging your finger along the text and this will highlight it blue. As soon as you release your
finger from the screen you will get a new menu come up with an option to "Copy". You can then do plenty with what you've copied, whether you want to use it to post on a website forums or an e-mail or even a text.

To paste your copied text you need to hold your finger in a "message box" such as the box you would enter a text message or an e-mail in. When you hold your finger on the screen you will see a pop up menu (see the screen capture to the left) with the option to paste. As soon as you select paste you will notice all the text you selected appears in the box.

To the right here you can see an excerpt that was copied into a text message using the Opera mini browser to copy and the default messaging app to paste. The actual amount of text you can copy and paste in this method does seem to be incredibly large and I've yet to stumble on the limit, though it would be fair to assume that if you wanted to copy and paste a huge amount the Samsung Galaxy S2 may have it's limits or take a moment to copy.

This is one of the many times that using Opera Mini is an advantage over using the default browser which has a number of limitations and I'd advise downloading either Opera mini or Skyfire for a number of reasons not just this one.

Edit:
Thanks to a comment by Material girl I've been playing about with this and realised that if you drag the little "quote marks" when using the default browser you can use that to highlight more than just a single world.
Thank you to Material Girl for pointing this out.
