How to delete icons from a homescreen on a Samsung Galaxy S3

I recently showed you how to personalise your phone by moving the icons around on the home screens of your your Android Smartphone, specifically the Samsung Galaxy S3. Now I'll show you how to delete icons from your home screens allowing you to tidy up mistakes (i.e. having the same icons on home screens twice), get rid of icons for apps that you no longer use or just create some extra space.

For this example I will be deleting the "ESPN Cricinfo" incon that sits in the middle of the 4th home screen. I accidentally placed it on the same screen as an existing icon for the same app.

Firstly you need to select the icon you wish to delete. To do this you need to hold your finger on the icon for a few seconds until the screen looks like the image on the right with the icon you selected looking a little bit "ghostly".  After selecting the icon you will notice that the "Apps" icon from the bottom right hand corner has now turned into a bin with the word "Delete" underneath it.
You need to drag the icon from where it is down to the bin. After doing this the icon will be gone from the home screen, however the app will not be uninstalled from the phone and you will be able to replace it on the home screen easily if you wish, or if you delete the wrong icon by mistake.

How do I move apps to a different screen on a Samsung Galaxy S2?

So you've got some apps on your homescreens and have decided to move one or two for whatever reason but can't quite work out how...well actually it's really simple. You need to hold your finger on whatever icon you want to move (for this example "Internet") and you'll see it "bubble" slightly and the screen will show a "frame". When you see the frame on screen drag the icon to side of the screen that relates to the screen you want to put it. For example your on screen 2 and want to move the icon to screen 1 you need to drag it to the left, if you want to move it to screen 3 you'd drag it to the right.
When you've moved page you need to place the icon where you want it an into an available space then drop it and it will sit nicely on your new page.

You can of course choose to move it back at any time or take it off the homescreens altogether if you wish.

How to change the wallpaper on a Samsung Galaxy S2

So you've had your Samsung Galaxy S2 for a little while now and you've finally decided you want to change the way the phone looks, you want to choose a different wallpaper (or if you rather "change the home screen"). The only problem is you're not sure on how you change the wallpaper of your Samsung Galaxy S2, well read on this little guide will take you by the hand and help you change it.

The first step is to press the menu button on the phone to bring up the small menu on the bottom of the screen (as you can see on the picture to the right) from here, you rather predictably press on "Wallpaper".

After pressing wall paper you get given 3 options. "Gallery", "Wallpaper gallery" and "Live Wallpapers". The "Gallery" option allows you to use the pictures that are on your phone, be they downloaded images, screen captures or camera photographs, the Wallpaper gallery has a number of pre-loaded designs whilst the Live wallpapers also has a number of inbuilt designs, it's one of those that we will be using.

When you click on which ever type of wallpaper you wish to use you will be given a host of different ones. For the Live wallpapers I've been given the options to the right and gone for the very bottom one "Windy weather" which uses the current weather for where I am as the basis for the wallpaper. The weather information is taken from "Accuweather.com" the same company that do the apps and as you can see in the image below it's raining where I am.
In the background of this wallpaper the "live" parts are the up to date weather readings, the windmills spinning in the backgrounds and the effects the various weather effects have. Though of course you can pick any wallpaper that is on the phone. Just remember one of the tips from the recent blog about getting the most from your battery- a live wallpaper will use up your battery quicker than a still wallpaper.

Tinkering with the the wallpaper/homescreen is one of many ways to personalise your Samsung Galaxy S2 just the way you want it. As well as sticking the face of a loved one in the background you can of course select a ringtone that suits you which is another way of making a phone feel like it's your phone.

How to set a different theme on your Samsung Wave Cell Phone

As with all the guides we start with the home screen the press the menu button the phone to open up the menu. With this guide in particular try and remember what the home screen looks like as it'll look very different by the end of this piece.
From the menu screen you need to click on "Samsung Apps", it's in the top right hand of this image, though for some users it will be in a different place depending on how you like your menu screens. As with the homescreen this will look pretty different after you've set a different theme.
In the Apps menu you need to either "search" for a theme or click category and find one. This guide will be done via the Category option as it makes this easier and more simple.
The category screen looks something like this, you need to scroll down to find "Theme" as can be seen below.
As I'm a cheapskate I've gone for the ones that are "Free"and picked a few to try. From here they may end up on a menu screen and need installing as well as downloading (though it seems not all of them do need installing).

After you've downloaded your themes you will need to go back to the menu screen and then enter the settings menu (see left) from here you need to click on "Display and light" and open the the menu's in there.
In the "Display and light" menu you need to click on "Theme" and you'll find the themes you've downloaded. By default there is only the "Default theme" though after you've downloaded a few more themes you'll be able to select one of those.
This is the screen that will show all your themes, as you can see I've only actually downloaded 2 on to the phone (and kept the default) so my options here are quite thin though. One of these options is is "cyberpunk" which is what you'll see on the screenshots below which are hugely different to the way the screen looked to begin with.

This is the new homescreen with the "Cyberpunk" theme set, as you can see the homescreen image is different and the icons at the bottom have also changed. Even the icons on menu scree have mainly changed as you can see in the image below. To change the theme back you can easily go back to the "Display and light" menu and select the default one or any other ones.
