How to change the font style on a Samsung Galaxy S4

One thing most people want to do when they get a new phone is personalise it, make it theirs. For many it's just about the wallpaper, the background screen and how they have their apps displayed on their homescreens, for others however they want to change more than just the lay out of things but also how things actually look.

On of the ways they can change the way things look is by changing the font that they use. This guide is going to show you just how to do that and change the font on a brand new Samsung Galaxy S4.

To start with we go through the same stages as we do for many changes we may wish to make to out phone. So to start with we go to the homescreen and press "menu" to open up a little pop up menu. From this menu you need to select "Settings".

After clicking settings you will be taken to the first "Settings" screen, the "Connections" screen. From here you need to select the second tab along and access the "My device" tab from the top of the screen.

When you get to the "My device" screen you will again be hit with a plethora of options to tinker with (further allowing you to personalise you phone). For now you need to just ignore those options and just click on the "Display" option.

After clicking on the "Display" option you will be taken to a new sub menu which again has a host of things you can change and edit to your personal preference. For now, you need to just ignore them and scroll down the screen


When scrolled part of the way down you will see a a set of options entitled "Font". From the "Font" sub-menu you will see two options. "Font style" and "Font size" for the sake of this guide you need to click on "Font style".

After clicking on "Font style" you will get a new pop up menu on the screen with a list of options. From those options you need to select the one you most like. For me it's "Choco Cooky" every time, though if you want to use one of the other options then that choice is yours.

How to change the font size in the Gmail app on Android phones

 Although we've shown you how to change the size of the font on the normal screens of the Samsung Galaxy S2 there is a very well hidden secret on changing the size of the font in the Gmail app. Firstly you need to open the Gmail app which should look something like the screen like the screenshot to the right hand side with all your e-mails in it.
Whilst in your your Gmail screen press the phones menu button and then click on the contextual option that says "More". After doing this you will notice 3 options at the bottom of the screen: "Settings", "Help" and "About", from here you need to select "Settings".

In the settings screen you will see something like this screen to the right. The selection you need is that of your e-mail address, so in this example I need to select "s.graveson.boxing@gmail.com". Of course if you have a number of Gmail accounts synced to your phone you will need to select the specific one that you want to change the font size on.

After clicking on the account name (your Gmail address) you will see the option screen that is shown on the left with a number of options. Near the bottom of the screenshot you can see "Message text size" with an arrow next to it, select this one to open up a list of sizes.

The sizes on offer are "Tiny", "Small", "Normal", "Large" and "Huge" (as you can see in the list to the right hand side)
feel free to select whichever of these you wish to use. If you use a number of different Gmail accounts you may wish to change the size of them all, though you will need to do them individually.

How do I change the font size on a Samsung Galaxy S2?

One of the big questions we keep getting asked is how to change the font size of texts, especially in text messages with the Samsung Galaxy S2. To do this we need to enter the messaging application and then press "Menu" and then "Settings". When you do this you will see a screen like the one in the picture to the right. This is also where you may have changed the message skin in the past.

Below the "Message skin" option you will see the "Message font size" option. If you click on that you will see a screen like the one on the left. allowing you to select one of the 3 sizes available. Sadly if you are struggling to read the text there doesn't seem to be an in-built way to increase the size and instead there is oddly just the option to decrease the size.

How to change the font on your Samsung Galaxy S2

 Along with everything else you can do to personalise your Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGS2) smartphone you can also change the font. Although the selection is relatively limited to begin with there is an ability to buy more form the Market (though these do feel over-priced and aren't worth their money on the whole).

To change the font just follow this guide which starts on the right with the "Setting" screen. From here you need to click on "Display" which is by default the 4th option down.  The display settings menu, for illustrative purposes can be seen on the screen capture to the left of this paragraph. From this list of settings you need to slick on the top one, the "Screen display option"


The "Screen display option should look something like the screen on the right here, The top option, as you can see, says "Font style" if you click on this you open up a new menu which 
contains the fonts available to you. In my case I've got the option of the Default font, Choco cooky and Helvetica S (as you can see to the left).


When you change the font setting you'll notice that everything looks very different. The below example shows a text conversation with the Choco cooky font being used on the phone. As you can see the font looks a lot more fun and less serious than some of the others and can be a good way to personalise your phone.
